We are delighted to hear of couples who love each other, wish to make a lifelong commitment to each other and even more so when they recognise God’s work in their lives, and therefore the desire to make those promises before God – in front of a minister, whether in the church or at another venue.
Please contact the minister at an early stage of your plans, to avoid any date clashes – it can be disappointing for all concerned if you book your venue and pay a deposit only to discover that the minister is likely to be on holiday or already has another wedding in the diary for that day (these can sometimes be planned years in advance!).
We are glad to see happy occasions celebrated in our church sanctuaries and while the minister does not charge a fee, use of the church would include charges for heat and light, as well as for the time of the Church Officer and (if required) the Organist. Details available on request.
“I’m always pleased to be asked to conduct weddings, full of joy and promise for the future. It is preferable to have some pastoral contact with you, as members, adherents/regular attenders, or through current or family contact with the church or parish, and would always encourage couples to attend our church on at least a few occasions (not least to see if you actually want me to conduct the service!) I will also want to meet with you and chat over your own faith and church experience as well as hopes and expectations for your wedding service and for your marriage.
“If you begin your married life by including God in your promises and plans, I trust that you will continue your married lives in prayer together and worship together – wherever you may live, though you will of course always be welcome in the local church!”
Wedding Blessing services (for marriages already conducted, e.g. by a registrar), and services of Renewal of Vows or celebrating big wedding anniversaries or milestones are also possible.
Please contact Rev. Slater for more details.
